Removing the iDF hardware solves the mechanical failure point, but it does not automatically stop the control module from expecting a response from a system that is no longer there. Without the right electronic step, riders can end up with a mechanically solid boat that still throws warning codes on the dash.
The reason is straightforward: the module is programmed to poll for a specific feedback signal every time reverse or docking mode is engaged. If the coupler and actuator have been physically removed but the module is never told to stop expecting that signal, it logs a fault exactly as if the original hardware had failed.
