When it comes to iDF Delete, two fundamentally different approaches are often confused: mechanical modification and purely electronic deactivation. Both pursue a similar goal, but differ significantly in terms of effort, scope, and effect.
A mechanical IDF Delete, for example with an IDF Delete Coupler Kit, replaces the fragile original mechanics in the drivetrain with a simpler, more robust solution. The component that previously had to reverse the direction of rotation is completely eliminated or replaced by a fixed coupling.
Electronic deactivation via the M-JET Sea-Doo IDF Delete Tool, on the other hand, works at the control level: it ensures that the vehicle electronics do not recognize the absence or decommissioning of the iDF system as a fault and therefore do not issue any error messages. Mechanical removal is not necessarily required for this.
In practice, both approaches complement each other: Anyone who wants to completely remove the system from the drivetrain needs not only the mechanical solution but also electronic deactivation to avoid subsequent error codes. Anyone who only wants to deactivate the function but leave the component in the vehicle can also use the M-JET tool independently of the mechanical modification.
