Sea-Doo: Engine Temperature on the Display – Why Is It Missing from the Factory?
You're riding your Sea-Doo and wondering why you can't see the engine temperature anywhere. Is that normal? Yes – and no. Many Sea-Doo models don't show oil or coolant temperature on the display, even though this is important information while riding. It's a deliberate decision by BRP – with a practical solution available.
Why Doesn't the Sea-Doo Display Show Engine Temperature?
With the Bosch ECU system (from around 2011), the lake water temperature sensor was integrated into the same circuit as the engine coolant sensor. This means many models can't display a separate engine coolant temperature in their stock configuration – the display only shows warning symbols when temperature reaches a critical level. Only the GTX Limited and some higher-spec models come factory-equipped with a temperature readout.
Why Is Temperature Monitoring Important?
Engine temperature is especially relevant in these situations:
- After a cold start: When is the engine actually at operating temperature?
- During performance riding: Is the engine overheating during full-throttle sessions?
- With coolant loss: Early detection of a problem before the warning light comes on too late
- After repairs: Verifying the cooling system is working correctly
The M-JET Temperature Module: Temperature Directly in the Stock Display
With the M-JET Temperature Module, you see the temperature – either oil or coolant – directly in your original Sea-Doo cluster display. No external gauge, no modifications, no second screen.
The module simply plugs into the diagnostic port and stays permanently on the vehicle. The desired temperature readout can be changed at any time afterwards via the smartphone app – free of charge.
Compatibility
- All Sea-Doo PWCs from model year 2018 onwards (regardless of cluster type)
- Sea-Doo Spark – all model years (coolant temperature only)
Note: On vehicles equipped with a lake water temperature sensor, this sensor needs to be disconnected for the module to work. Contact us via the contact form if you have questions.
Conclusion
Monitoring engine temperature isn't a luxury – it simply makes sense. The M-JET Temperature Module delivers this information without any modification, without any hassle, directly in the stock display.
