Why doesn't my Sea-Doo show engine temperature?
Many Sea-Doo riders notice a striking gap when looking at the display: there is no gauge for engine or oil temperature. This is not a defect – it is a conscious factory setting by BRP. The original Sea-Doo cluster is configured to display only a few basic values such as speed, RPM, and fuel level by default. Temperature readings are completely missing on most models.
This is a real problem, especially for riders who push their Sea-Doo to its performance limits or tune it: without temperature data, you don't know when the engine is warm enough for full load – and you only notice impending overheating when it's too late.
What temperatures are relevant for a Sea-Doo?
There are fundamentally two temperature values that are crucial for the Sea-Doo engine:
- Oil temperature: Indicates how warm the engine oil is. The engine is truly at operating temperature and can be fully loaded only from about 80–90 degrees C. Accelerating when cold risks increased wear.
- Water temperature: Important for early detection of overheating – especially during intensive use, high ambient temperatures, or a lot of full throttle.
The control unit records both values – but without an additional device, they never appear on the display.
M-JET Temperature Module – Plug and Play Solution
The M-JET Temperature Module is the easiest way to make the engine or oil temperature visible directly on the original Sea-Doo display – without modification, without cable routing, without a laptop.
The module plugs directly into your Sea-Doo's diagnostic port and communicates with the cluster via the CAN bus system. It overwrites the standard value on the display with the selected temperature value – completely without software errors or loss of warranty.
How to install it
- Open the seat and locate the diagnostic port
- Plug in the M-JET Temperature Module
- Select mode: oil temperature or water temperature
- Start the vehicle – the value immediately appears on the display
The entire installation takes less than 2 minutes. No tools are needed.
Compatibility
The M-JET Temperature Module is compatible with:
- All Sea-Doo PWC models from model year 2018 (GTX, RXP-X, RXT-X, GTI, Wake, Fish Pro, etc.)
- Sea-Doo Spark (all years) – water temperature only
Not compatible: Sea-Doo Switch (different cluster architecture)
Why is the temperature display especially important for tuning?
If you have tuned your Sea-Doo with the M-JET Flasher, you will be riding with significantly more power. This also means more thermal load on the engine and cooling system. Without a temperature display, you are essentially riding blind. The Temperature Module is therefore a useful addition for all tuning riders.
Conclusion
BRP deliberately delivers Sea-Doo vehicles without a temperature display – but the data is available in the system. The M-JET Temperature Module makes this information easily and quickly visible on the display. For tuners, recreational riders, and anyone who wants to keep a better eye on their engine, it is one of the most useful plug-and-play enhancements available.
