Sea-Doo forums frequently report the following symptoms: rough or excessively high idle, hesitation during acceleration, error codes such as P0122 (Throttle Position Sensor Low Input), or poor throttle response after winter storage. Often, the cause is not defective hardware, but rather a desynchronized throttle body adaptation.
What is Throttle Body Adaptation?
Throttle body adaptation is a calibration function where the ECM relearns the exact position of the throttle body. This adaptation is often necessary after repairs, cleanings, oil ingress, or the replacement of the TPS sensor. Without correct adaptation, the engine may "hunt" at idle or hesitate when accelerating.
