What is the iBR system on a Sea-Doo?
The iBR (Intelligent Brake & Reverse) system is one of the most important safety and comfort systems in modern Sea-Doo vehicles. It enables controlled braking and reverse operation via an electronically controlled deflection flap in the jet stream. If the iBR system reports an error, an error warning appears on the display – and often reverse or neutral completely fails.
Typical iBR error messages and their causes
In forums, many Sea-Doo riders report sporadic iBR errors, often caused by: a weak or poorly connected battery (the iBR system is extremely sensitive to voltage fluctuations), water or dirt in the iBR module, mechanical blockage of the iBR flap, or communication errors between the ECM, IBRM and cluster control units. A frequently reported problem: The iBR system sporadically activates after jerky maneuvers or at high speeds – even though there is no real mechanical defect.
